Been meaning to do this for ages and we finally got round to it. Sam brought his CDJ’s and mixer round and we made this mix in one take, totally unplanned and off the cuff.
It starts off with some disco flavas and teases in house of all kinds, (deep, progressive, funky, tech) building up to a saxophony, funky crescendo of music at the end. We hope that you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.

A completely new booking for us. We always dreamt, but never dared to book an out and out minimal house/techno DJ, but then we just did. Our London rave crew has seen this guy play out a number of times, crafting impossibly wonky sets to delighted clubbers in sweaty rave dens around the capital.
Delivering imaginative, genre hopping, house centric sets in a loopy, technology driven style. Hailing from Hackney, Dan Perrin has become a very familiar name to London clubbers over the past couple of years. Regularly rocking the dancefloors of our biggest clubs – EGG, SOSHO, MINISTRY, CENTRO, SCALA etc…Dan holds residencies for a select handful of the cities best known parties, playing alongside some of the biggest names in the scene (Matthias Tanzmann, Sebastian Leger, Eric Prydz, Mark Broom to name but a few) Dan is fast building a formidable reputation for deep, groovy electronic journeys which delve far into the outer boundaries of house and tech.
This mix was recorded live at Public Life last Friday. It was performed across 3 decks and includes a fair few unreleased tracks to boot. As Dan puts it, “its a snaphot of our scene”. Here is a little vid of Public Life in action.
Watch out this coming friday 30th October because Dan Perrin has very kindly made us a mix….Be sure to visit us and grab it…..
In other news, October has been a record month for our website, we have doubled the amount of visitors we usually get. Thanks for all of your support…..
ps. If you want paying guestlist for Saturday. Email your names to magikbullet@hotmail.com.
Remember, we are starting at the White Rabbit at 11pm (NOT JACK CHAMS ANYMORE)
We have prizes for the best dressed people:
1st Prize: Bottle of Jagermeister & 4 x Disco of Doom downloads from our friends at http://www.trackitdown.net 2nd Prize: Subscription to DJ Mag & 2 x Tickets to Beatz and Bobz New Years Eve Party 3rd Prize: 2 x Tickets to Andy C on 4th December in Exeter.
Do your best/worst!!
We also now have decor from Alex Alphawave to make the night even more special! And to top it all off, the White Rabbit have upgraded their rig to 12k. (THIS IS A GOOD THING!!!)
Remember you can dress however you like, as long as its in keeping with Halloween. If you are going to go for the Zombie look, then take a look at this video. Don’t take too much notice of the start and skip to the bit where the woman zombiefies the bloke…
We have a bit of a soft spot for well mixed techno over here at Magik Bullet towers. If you like your techno to be druggy, minimal and downright scary in places then grab this mix by Perfect Stranger. He straddles the line between psy sounds and techno and does it very well indeed….
Just when you thought we had forgotten. We present a classic mix from Damo Bullet, made all the way back in September 2005. Its full of acapellas (White lines, pump up the volume to name two) and its a well made mix of house, tech and breaks with some stone cold classics in there to boot. A lot of people are still listening to this mix today….Why not check it out and see what the fuss is about? Oh and forgive him for the Vanilla Ice acappella over Autobotz vs Screwface at the end…… Enjoy!!!

Lee Coombs is a man who needs little introduction, a constant name and face on the dance music landscape since the mid-1990s he has played a major part in charting the ever changing course of electronic music. Now he gives us an insight into his sound of 2009 with this his latest opus in the form of third artist album Light and Dark.
Coombs musical history can’t easily be scribed in a few lines; his journey as a DJ stretches back to the late 80s and the early days of acid house, his recording career encompasses his work for classic imprint Finger Lickin Records as well as Adrift and Lot49, not to mention of course his own Thrust Recordings which he ran for nearly a decade. He has put his name to mix compilations for the likes of Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto and remixed the likes of Moby, New Order, Lamb and Planet Funk. Coombs has travelled the world in the pursuit of his passion for music and has never the lost the enthusiasm for making great records and tearing up dancefloors
Light and Dark is in Coombs own words “a true tech funk album”, an amalgam of sounds and influences from dance musics often disparate scenes. Alongside Lot49 crew Meat Katie, Dylan Rhymes and Elite Force, Coombs has pioneered this open minded attitude and helped forge the sound of tech funk, a fusion of techno, breaks, house and electro. On this long player Coombs takes the tech funk spirit and develops it to the n’th degree, it is a true melting pot of influences, from the opening bars of the Diva driven Control with the wonderful Katherine Ellis to the final refrain of the heavily Echo & the Bunnymen inspired Blues I’m Singing. Collaborations with the highly talented and spiritually inspired Seasunz rub shoulders with the massive Uberzone joint production Right Now whilst the siren drenched sounds of Detox and the squelching warehouse intensity of Moog Acid all add up to make this a pretty special album indeed.
This is not an album for those who want an LP that stays in a single static vein from beginning to end. Rather this is an album that is a true celebration of electronic music and everything that it has to offer, Coombs has been bold enough to dip his musical wand into a variety of styles (see the Leftfield-esque I’m a Machine or the superb Italo Disco) and has pulled off each record with aplomb. His immense experience and ability as a producer have allowed him to take 11 very different aural shards and draw them in an incredibly accomplished final piece that makes for truly great listening.
There will always be a place for Lee Coombs in the dance music landscape and this, his latest offering shows once again why he is held in such high regard.
“seasunz tune is dope…… Lee’s back” Freqnasty
“Great – its phat wicked” Annie Nightingale
“Absolutely love this” Kim Fai
“The wait is over! Lee has created a monster! Spot on production and a collection of worthy forward moving tracks that remind me of why I love electronic music!! Well done Lee!” Scott Kirkland – The Crystal Method
“A stalwart of the UK breaks scene for over a decade Lee Coombs is moving on with the times without losing his identity” M8 Magazine
“The trademark Tech Funk sound is alive and kicking… there isn’t a bum track on here” Tilllate Magazine
“Coombs puts both a fresh twist and his own stamp on past influences” DJ Mag
“An excellent effort featuring some cool collaborations” Datatransmission

Rising up from the gurgling belly of the underworld comes Disco of Doom AKA London-based DJ and production duo Tom Real and Ben Medcalf. With a shared appetite for destruction and a love of loose women Disco Of Doom sees the duo deliver sick electronic bangers to destroy dance floors across the globe. Signed to Gung-Ho! The EP follows recent gems from the likes of The Japanese Popstars, Tom Madiccott and The Yank. Butterfingers and In Effect are two weapons that will utterly destroy the floor.
Already their previous EPs have been supported by the likes of Alex Metric, Etienne De Crecy, Autokratz, Tronic Youth, Fake Blood and many more, this is only going to cement them as a duo to keep a sharp eye on..
On the remix front the duo tore apart Fukkk Offfs last single Love Me Hate Me Kiss Me Kill Me and have been busy delivering remixes for Etienne De Crecy, Foamo and SiBegg whilst unofficially they dropped a techd out remix of Chemical Brothers massive Do It Again.
After making such a storming debut at the last Magik Bullet in August, we though that it would be rude not to have London wunderkid Samuel back for some more. Just like last time, he has made us a mix and this time its a MONSTER. It was lovingly crafted on his Pioneer CDJ’s and weighs in at around 1 hour. Catch Samuel again on the 31st October and in the meantime, enjoy his mix….

In a change to the usual program for our events, we will be kicking things off at the White Rabbit 2 on the 31st October. Plymouth dwellers will know this place as Jack Chams and its gone through an amazing transformation at the hands of the White Rabbit crew.
Dicey and Damo Bullet will be warming you up with some early evening bullet sounds from 8pm onwards and then we will wander down to the White Rabbit to kick things off properly at 11pm. As a special treat, here is a funk mix from Dicey.
