MP3 Mix Sets from our favourite DJs and Producers
Disclaimer:
Not all of these artists have played at our events. Some of these mixes are just the ones that we like to listen to most at Magik Bullet towers. We thought it would be rude not to share them with all of you. It gives you some idea of what we are into and some of it is music that we wouldn’t neccesarily play at Magik Bullet, but its certainly influenced us in some way! Download to your heart’s content and make sure that you tell your friends…..Also, if you have time, stop by the artists Myspace and thank them yourself……..If you don’t want us to host your mix up here, then please let us know by emailing magikbullet@hotmail.com and we will take it down. Alternatively, if you think there is a mix that should be up here and isn’t then drop us a line too…Its all good promo right?
Oh and while you are at it add Dam0 to your Facebook http://www.magikbullet.co.uk/facebook

Ben and Lex Exclusive Mix for Magik Bullet

Info
Its with great pleasure that we add Ben & Lex to the lineup for our final party. Ben & Lex are veterans of Glade, Glastonbury, Fabric and some of the best parties in the country. It is fitting that they are playing at our final party, as they are loved by all of our crowd.
Their debut single “Cosa Nostra” was released on Functional Breaks in 2003 and received universal DJ and radio support around the world. Their second release for the label followed soon after, a double ‘A’ sided single “Proper Tasty / Reconsidered” which firmly stamped its mark on the breaks scene with radio play on Radio One, Ministry of Sound FM, Breaks FM, several other international shows and has had DJ support from the likes of Freq Nasty, Krafty Kuts, Skool of Thought, Tayo and Steelzawheelz to name but a few.
As well as continuing to release on Functional Breaks – their tune “Soundgal“, as featured on Freq Nasty’s Breakspoll 2006 compilation, is released as Functional #44 – the boys have been approached by the likes of Big Square for “Floor Burn“, Trusted for “Funky Music”(also a top ten O2 ringtone) and Drum and Breaks for “Raw 2 Da Floor/ Le Chunk” ft MC Spee (Dreadzone). Plus new labels Silo “Wind It Back” and remixes for Wut Eva and Breakin Even.
Their distinctive sound can be heard on their weekly Nuskool Breaks radio show as well as guest mixes for Pulseradio.net and Outofthevoid.co.uk. Ben & Lex have also had an exclusive half-hour mix on Radio 1 for Annie Nightingale and they are residents at the UK’s longest running monthly breakbeat night, Beatz & Bobz, where they regularly support break beat heavyweights such as Rennie Pilgrem, Freq Nasty, Tayo, James Lavelle (Unkle) and The Freestylers as well as giants such as the Wu tang, Afrika Bambaata, Grandmaster Flash, Adam F & Fresh and DJ Zinc.
With critically acclaimed sets across the UK they have also made numerous festival appearances at Glastonbury, The Glade and Beautiful Days. They are also gaining international kudos with recent appearances at the Miami Winter Music Conference, Dangerous Drums in Berlin, Mission Dance Winter Sessions in Mannheim and the Break Nation festival in Seville where they rocked it to a crowd of over 10,000 Spanish nutters!!
With forthcoming releases on their own brand new label Ape Records (including remixes from Will White (Propellorheads), Transformer Man & more) and releases on Functional Breaks, Silo Records, Wut Eva and Jardim plus many remixes already lined up for the rest of this year, these two Westcountry Warriors look like they will be impossible to escape, so go see them and treat yourself to a damn good party!

Tom Real’s Disco of Doom Mix for Magik Bullet March 2009
Info
Tom Real is one of the most popular DJs to have played at Magik Bullet and it is fitting that he will close us on March 14th. Tom plays across the board, from minimal to house and everything in between. The video above is Tom Real playing at Universal Parallelo in Brazil last January. Regulars will know not to miss this event, and the fact that it is our last makes it even more poignant.
2009 kicked off in fine style with Tom bringing in the first sunrise of the New Year to a crowd of one thousand plus at Universo Paralello, arguably the best new years party in the world. Located on the edge of a rain forest overlooking the Atlantic Ocean this set marking the start of a very special year for DJ and producer Tom Real
Inspired by the same festival the previous year Tom has moved away from the break beat past and is forging ahead with a new tech-fuelled house and progressive sound, as Tom describes it ‘music to be played outdoors and preferably on very loud sound systems’ Tom will continue to produce tech funk and electro bangers with long time collaborator and friend The Rogue Element under their new ‘Disco Of Doom’ guise.
Back to the rave… last year was an amazing year as not only did Tom find his new groove but he also played major slots at four of the biggest festivals on the planet. Kick-starting with the Universo Paralello 07/08 on Pratigi Beach in Brazil via international dates taking in Spain, China, Romania and the Czech Republic alongside a hectic UK schedule. Tom launched his summer festival season DJ’ing at Eastern Europe’s wildest beach party, the five-week mega rave that is The KaZantip Festival. Two weeks later he blew apart Portugal’s week-long Boom festival DJing to a packed dance floor from inside the mouth of a giant whale. Tom then headed straight to the festival to end all festivals – The Burning Man in the Nevada Desert where Tom performed to a crowd of five thousand plus on the festival’s largest sound system the spectacular Opulent Temple.
Studio-wise Tom is busy working on his new tech-house / progressive project and with an arsenal of new music waiting in the wings featuring collaborations with like-minded friends and artists such as Fake Hero, Dylan Rhymes, Hamish and Gaudi as well as his own solo productions which he has spent the last two years refining. The first track to be completed from this new project titled ‘Boxed In’ (below) is drawing support from the likes of King Roc, Hernan Cattaneo, Moguai, James Monro, Dimitri Nakov, Dom Kane, Timo Garcia, Tim Davison, Dopamine and Tania Von Pear from an initial taster mail out which sets the pace for things to come.
As mentioned above Tom is also working with long-time friend and collaborator The Rogue Element under their ‘Disco Of Doom ‘guise, an electro project who’s first release ‘Disco Of Doom EP1’ featuring ‘The Click’ and ‘Loud & Clear’ on Passenger Records has won them support from DJs like AutoKratz, Annie Nightingale, Acid Jacks, Miles Dyson and DJ Hyper amongst a long list of others and with headline gigs not only in the UK but in Amsterdam and Helsinki, the duo are currently completing their second release expected to drop shortly.
So this looks set to be another busy year for Tom Real as he continues to raise the profile of both projects with a busy studio schedule with plenty of collaborations and solo work planned for the first half of the year. -wise, Tom is already confirmed for two major festivals (more details to be announced when events go live) and with a steady stream of gig offers coming in, Tom’s diary is filling up fast.
