Raised on a diet of hip hop, breaks and turntablism, the Thugs bring a fresh attitude to house music. Their trademark ‘Gangster House’ sound combines wobbling basslines, rudeboy rap vocals and pounding percussive beats.

Since meeting in 2001, the Thugs have rocked parties all over the UK and are gaining a reputation for their no holds barred DJ sets. Their production output has pricked the ears of DJs, labels and promoters worldwide and  have received huge support from the likes of Atomic Hooligan, Rico Tubbs, Foamo, Tomb Crew, Matt Cox & Stupid Fresh to name but a few.

With a release schedule bigger than the Obama campaign, there is no doubt 2 Bit Thugs will remain in many a DJ’s record box for years to come.  The ‘Gangster House’ sound will be featuring on remixes for the likes of The Bulgarian, Calvertron, Zombie Disco Squad, Jackinori & Kelevra all to released soon.

With 2008 seeing the Thugs stepping up a fair few rungs on the ladder, keep an eye out on the club listings near you for your own Thug experience.

We are so excited and honoured to have the 2Bit Thugs at Magik Bullet. Its going to be a wonky disco of epic proportions. Not only are they amazing producers who have been drawing attention from industry big hitters like Kissy Sell Out, but they are also fantastic DJs to boot. Watch them rise to fame over the coming months, and remember where you saw them in Plymouth first.

Trust us when we bring down the freshest acts that you might not necessarily have heard of at first, but have grown to love as the years have rolled by! If you have a a moment, check lots of 2Bit Thug’s productions out over on Soundcloud and their Myspace is here

30hz in studio

30Hz in his studio

Finally, we have 30Hz set ready for you to enjoy. The whole thing was recorded live and direct by Ollie 303 from http://www.southwestunderground.net

Head over to the music page and click the link to grab it. There is no track listing, as most of the tracks are not out yet!!

Thanks to 30Hz for making it possible.

Watch out for more live sets from Tom Real, High Eight vs That Girl Dj and Poface-Killa in the coming weeks…..

We celebrated our 4th birthday last Saturday and we were joined by Tom Real, 30Hz, High Eight and That Girl DJ. All of them had been down before, so they knew our crowd and knew that we liked it hard, bassy and as filthy as possible. All of the DJs on the night had headlined before at least once already. This was Tom Real’s 3rd time down and High Eight’s 7th or 8th time!!

For us it was a dream lineup and judging by the amount of people that turned up, we were not alone in thinking this way. The event went out live over http://www.southwestunderground.net and we broke their concurrent live listeners record… We broke our own attendance record too.

High Eight and That Girl DJ started off proceedings, whipping the crowd into a frency and making my set look decidedly average! They were followed by Tom Real who showed his pure class and quality, a real personality behind the decks, with some wicked crowd interaction.

We have not had any trouble in the 4 years we have been around, but 10 mins after 30Hz got to the club, someone stole his record bag. He was scheduled to play the 2nd last headline set of the evening. Whilst we were all flapping Tom Real got cracking and gave everyone what they wanted, some fantastic techno and wonky house. The crowd were hyped, unaware that in the background we were scouring the CCTV attempting to verify the identity of the thief who would steal away 30Hz’s chance of playing.

We confirmed the thief’s identity and calmed down a bit, suddenly the security noticed that the thief had made the mistake of coming back in. We grabbed him and after much persuasion, made him reveal the location of the stolen bag (which had been hidden in a locker in the bus station!) We triumphantly announced the return of the bag to the crowd and 30hz was summoned back from his hotel room, shocked that we had got his records back.

30hz went on to end the night with one of the best sets he has ever played (his words) and ended once of the best nights in our history….We recorded all of the sets and our professional photographer was on hand to give us all some chance of remembering what happened.

A big thanks goes out to the DJs for putting up with all of my stress on the night. I appreciate you travelling all that way to play for us, I hope to have each of you down again, thanks for making the night absolutely go off and thanks for being absolute pro’s and showing us how its done!!

Till next time………

30Hz Modelling Shot

Posted in news at April 24th, 2008 / No Comments »

Did you know that 30Hz is also a food model? Here is a shot from his work which will be used in a campaign for KFC. Quite stunning, wouldn’t you agree?

Monday
We make it to another Monday, hopefully having had a fun packed weekend. Myself and a few mates went to C103 rock night on Friday and it was pretty rocking…I  highly recommend it.

Apology
We have a feature in DJ Mag this month (May issue)  and it was thought up a few months ago when we were pretty sure  we would have the Body Snatchers booked for our 4th Birthday, but there was a bit of a mix-up and obviously when you have a 4th birthday you need to let everyone know about it super early. So we gave that early lineup to the friendly DJ Mag journalist and unfortunately the lineup changed just before DJ Mag went to print.

Just in case you don’t know The Body Snatchers are 30Hz and Baobinga’s side project. We hope to get them down in the future, but until then we are sure that you will be more than happy with the lineup we have instead.

Tickets
Tickets will be available to buy in the next couple of days. They will be on sale for £5 as an early-bird special, we truly believe that this is going to be our busiest night ever and already know about a number of people who are traveling from well outside the South West to be there. You can appreciate that having 4 headliners is costing us a lot more than our usual nights…

Tickets are going to be £6/£7 on the door, so grab the chance to get them for a fiver when you can.
